Great intro for the person just starting on this path
Clear and short.
This is a good, short book for those that want to know more about the Sikh *people*. It gives a pretty good, but very brief, description of the Sikh religion and very minimal Sikh history too. But the book spends most of its time on the social aspects of the Sikh people.Where it falls short: Last couple of chapters are devoted to contemporary Sikh issues. The book covers them all, and doesn't mislead in any significant way, but it also doesn't quite take a clear stand on these issues. This is fine for those that will follow up this book with a more in-depth reading elsewhere; and this is really the safest way to go because of the controversial nature of some of the topics. But someone that is only going to read this book might feel a bit puzzled at the end.What's really great is how much it does cover in such a short narrative. Also, it is quite clear that the author has very good grasp of the subject matter.
