This book is challenging as well as Wonderful!! I have done a lot of marriage bible studies and the combination of testimonies with scriptural content is unmatched. I am grateful to add this to one of my recommendations when I have friends or strangers that need help. It's not an easy and light weight study!! It's real and makes you take a hard look at yourself!! It's transforming when you let the Holy Spirit you lead you through!! I have a new personal marriage mission statement and ever so grateful for this book!!
This book will certainly make you reflect on your marriage and attitude. I appreciated reading the perspectives of other wives, however, I noticed there were no established boundaries amongst many of them. Not sure if the book was meant to provide extreme cases to prove any marriage is salvageable, but I suppose that is to the readers discernment.
I'm only a few chapters in, but I LOVE IT! I have shared it with so many friends and family, too. Every time I open it to read it I don't want to put it down. I have laughed and cried so much already! Great book! Definitely recommend!
I love Linda Dillow! This book is no exception. It was actually the first Linda Dillow book I read and have been hooked since. Powerful and wise woman of God and fantastic insights from the older generation. SO much that the younger (or even older) generation can learn from Linda and her experiences in her marriage. I've read this book 3 times (about once a year) and am gearing up to read it again with a group of friends. Always refreshing and great pointers at any stage of your marriage.
Wow! What a self reflection. It gives you alot to think about. I am going back through the book again highlighting some truths and key points. Sometimes in marriage we want to blame our husbands for things, I have learned that alot of the time the problem is me, and my attitude. Men are simple and women tend to complicate things. If you will meet a husbands needs and honor him, he in turn will treat you like a Queen. This dosen't happen overnight and there have been bumps in the road, but by changing me, it has changed my husband. Book is a great resource and helpful encouragement.
This is personally challenging & one of the best/hardest books I have ever gone through. I want my relationship with my husband to be richer & more full, even after 34 years of marriage, but more than that I want to please my Heavenly Father. Sometimes the 'Mirror' has reflected back some pretty unlovely traits, but :) I am up for the challenge! Prepare to be challenged, to be healed of 'ya, but...-itis', & realize that the only crown you should wear comes from your Heavenly Father, ;) we weren't born with one~to be like Him, we need a servants heart & His love...
This is a hard book to evaluate because I seemed to waffle between, this is to simple I'm wasting my time to painful tears of reality that this is all to real and I'd better get serious about making some changes. My recommendation, stick with it all the way through. If there is only one chapter that hits you between the eyes the read will be worth it and the rest of the chapters can serve as encouragement!
This book is for brave women who want an honest look at themselves. It helps you take responsibility for your own choices, your part of your marriage as the wife. We ask God to make us one, we said yes to this man, and so now make the most of it by working to live as "eternal" people not "daily" people. Why settle for mediocrity? I am using this for a book club with 18 wives in it. Wonderful to see how God will change their marriages for the better using Linda's well thought out material and exercises.
